Privacy Settings
Pixplug allows you to make your account private so that only those people you trust to view your photos can access your site. When you make your site private it requires a log-in to view your site pages.

Site Manager > Site Settings > Privacy Settings

To change the privacy settings for your site go to the Site Manager > Site Settings > Privacy Settings and change the radio button to what you want:

After you change the settings don't forget to click the Apply button or your changes will not be applied.

Private Site
When you make your site private the following page will be displayed to anyone visiting your site:

If the visitor already has a Pixplug membership then they click the Log-in to Pixplug link and enter in their information:

If they do not have a Pixplug membership they can click the 14 Day Free Trial link to sign up for temporary membership:

Either way, a Pixplug account is required to view a Private site.

After the user logs in and returns to your site they will see the following page allowing them to ask your permission to view your site. The visitor clicks the Request Access link and an email will be sent to you informing you that someone has asked to see your site. This is what we call a Pending Request. You can approve or deny pending requests from the Site Manager > Page Settings > Manager Members area of your site.

You will also be informed on your homepage when you log-in that you have pending requests. If the request is from a Friend it will show up under the Friends pod as a Pending Request:

In the example above I can see that I have 1 Pending Request from a friend who wants to join my site as a friend. When I click on this link from my homepage I am taken to the Pending Requests page where I can approve or decline this person's request:

Private Albums
When you make an album private only those people who are members of your site can see private albums. The public cannot see them.

In the example below I have logged into my site and am viewing my albums. I can see all the albums in my site as I am logged in and this lets me see both public and private albums.

The album Under the Sea is a private album. Because I am logged in I can see this and can access it to view the photos, download the original images and order prints if I want to.

In the example below I am viewing the same page but have logged out and am viewing the same page anonymously as a public viewer not signed into my site:

As I am not logged in I do not see and cannot access the private album: Under the Sea.

Permissions And The Site Links Menu
When you allow members to join your site you can give them site level access of View Only / Contributor / or Admin level. We recommend using the View Only setting unless the person is highly trusted.

View Only
A visitor to your site who has View Only permissions can view a private site by logging in. They cannot, however, access any albums or edit the site in anyway. The Site Links menu looks like this to a View Only visitor:

Contributor
When you give a member Contributor access to your site the Site Links menu looks like this:

A site wide contributor can access the Album Manager under the Site Links menu. This lets them update any album on your site.

Admin
A site wide Admin member can access both the Site Manager and Album Manager under the Site Links menu. This lets them update anything on your site.

Admin site level access lets the person do anything you can do so be careful who you assign this to.
